Do you love the drape of knitted fabric but aren't crazy about the knitting process? Tunisian Crochet may be your answer!
Mixing the best of both worlds with the drape of knitting and the speed of crochet, Tunisian crochet can even mimic the look of knit fabric! Whether you're looking to add a new craft to your skill set or you've been curious about Tunisian crochet and exactly what those long hooks get into, this hands-on workshop is for you!
What you'll learn:
• The basics of Tunisian crochet - including how to hold the specialized longer hook, casting on, and counting stitches and rows
• Essential stitches - learn the basics of Tunisian Simple Stitch, Tunisian Knit Stitch and Tunisian Pearl stitch, as well as the forward and return pass
• You'll get started on a fun, textured project with the confidence to continue on at home!
Materials Needed:
• 6mm Tunisian hook - both traditional straight hooks (sometimes called an afghan hook) or cabled hooks with stoppers are acceptable. Traditional crochet hooks will not be suitable
• Weight 5/bulky yarn in a solid colour (avoid darker colours)
• Notions such as stitch markers and scissors may also be useful.
A basic understanding of crochet skills are required for this class, participants should know how to hold their hooks and yarn, know how to chain and single crochet.
