Shop Sample: Artefact Shawl - Completed!

Shop Sample: Artefact Shawl - Completed!

Two years ago in October 2018, Artisanthropy gave a Toronto knitwear designer, Kyle Vey, some yarn from The Black Lamb to come up with the perfect shawl pattern to go with it. The yarn was a Merino Cashmere Nylon fingering weight blend hand-dyed by Laurie of the famous Port Hope yarn shop, and Kyle pulled out all the stops to design a stunning and intricate shawl featuring slipped stitches, crossed stitches, colourwork and more. The pattern is a very interesting knit that keeps you engaged, and the result is stunningly beautiful. Pictured below are images of Kyle's original sample, done in gorgeous rich gold and maroon of Black Lamb Merino Cashmere Nylon, and my own sample, recently completed, in two balls of Mineville Wool Project #3106 (Sport) in black and red.

The pattern is really perfect for any two colours of mostly wool fingering weight, or even generous yardage sport weight, yarn.

Here, Kyle's sample is styled with a shawl cuff by local leather artist Jennifer Yun, and my sample is styled with JUL Designs Pedestal Button in black
