2025 Canada Post Strike Response

2025 Canada Post Strike Response

Update May 23, 2025: Crisis averted - for now. Canada Post continues to operate, albeit without any potential overtime that may be needed due to package volume, so at this time packages may be slightly delayed. An interruption may occur at any time, however. For now, we have re-enabled Canada Post shipping, and anyone using a PO Box may continue to place your orders. The usual alternatives continue to be available, as well.

----------- Original Post Below: -----------

Canada Post has issued a strike notice that they will be walking out on Friday, May 23rd, 2025. Any packages from us already in the system via Canada Post should have already been delivered, or likely will be prior to the strike.

Going forward, for now, we have removed all Canada Post shipping options from our shop temporarily. If you recently placed an order that has yet to be fulfilled, and selected Canada Post as your shipping option during checkout, we will not be able to fulfill your order at this time. Please either reach out to us, or I will reach out to you to confirm which shipping method will be acceptable to you in lieu.

For everyone else, please read on.

Services Available

During checkout, you will see a slew of options available - none of which use Canada Post in any way, shape or form. All of them are the lowest-cost options our partner couriers provide. They are all available at all times, and many of you have used these options in the past. They include services such as UniUni, GLS, Canpar, Purolator, UPS, Fedex, ICS Courier, Intelcom, and many others you may already be familiar with. All are excellent services and offer insurance to ensure your packages arrive safely to you.

Lettermail Option

We are typically able to offer low-cost Lettermail for smaller items such as single, thin knitting needles or cables. During this time, this option will not be available, unless you are open to waiting an indeterminate amount of time for the strike to be over.

P.O. Boxes

If you have a PO Box, please either provide an alternate, physical address where we can send a courier package to, or avoid ordering until the strike is over.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this has served to reassure you about our ability to deliver your packages to you this holiday season!
