Retail Sales Associate

Artisanthropy Fibre Arts is now accepting applications from experienced sales people with an aptitude for and avid interest in the fibre arts: knitting, crochet, embroidery, weaving, felting and spinning. A strong retail background is required. Our shop can be a demanding and fast-paced environments at times, but it’s always a friendly environment with knowledgeable staff known for providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the smooth maintenance and operation of the shop as a whole.

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Exceptional, proven retail sales, and customer service, skills
  • A positive, upbeat attitude and sunny personality
  • 1-3 years experience managing a retail shop
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Highly motivated: when one task is complete, you look around for something else to work on
  • Extremely trustworthy and highly ethical
  • Shop and bathroom cleaning duties
  • Highly energetic with the ability to lift 25 pounds, stand, squat, reach, bend, sit, climb, lean and stand for long periods of time; the work can be quite physically demanding
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work with multiple customers during busy periods
  • Must be available and willing to work evenings, and weekends
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Ease in working with a computer-based POS
  • Comfort in working with computers overall
  • Open to learning new skills
  • Must be comfortable wearing a mask at all times when customers are in the shop; this could be for upwards of two hours at a time (for example, during our socials, or during very busy times)

Nice to haves:

  • Ability to interpret knitting and crochet patterns to assist our customers with appropriate yarn selections
  • Knowledge of various fiber qualities and ability to recommend suitable yarn substitutions when necessary
  • Comfort using variety of websites and social media platforms
  • Strong background in the fibre arts
